Some Information About CICAF

CICAF is the only state-level professional cartoon and animation festival in China. Sponsored by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People’s Republic of China and Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, this annual event has been held in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, since 2005.

Some Information About CICAF

The 11th CICAF, held between 28 April and 3 May 2015, attracted 1.37 million visitors to 12 venues across the city. During the course of the six-day festival some 355,000 people attended events in the main venue – the White Horse Lake Animation Plaza. A total of 58 activities included exhibitions, forums, business sessions, competitions, awards and other events, and attracted 617 companies and institutions from 78 countries and regions. CICAF also saw the signing of contracts on 325 projects, resulting in on-site transactions totalling 14.85 billion RMB (USD 2.39 billion).

The largest and most popular exhibition of its kind in China, CICAF is credited, by the China Animation Association (CAA), as the country’s most influential animation festival.


Business sessions held throughout the festival provide opportunities for professionals in the industry to meet, discuss and do business deals in both domestic and international markets.


Festival highlights include the presentation of the prestigious Golden Monkey King Award (GMKA), which is given to esteemed academic institutions and professionals for excellence in the cartoon and animation industry.
